AutoVerse Workflow Controller

Enterprise workflow orchestration, execution control, and monitoring for n8n

Scheduler → Graceful Shutdown Mode

AI-generated

Summary

Deactivates one or more n8n workflows through the n8n public API. It can either hard-pause them (purge pending executions and record a drop-before timestamp) or stop running and waiting executions.

Inputs

  • Workflow Selection — How to pick targets: searchable list (default), multiple from list, current workflow, or by URL/ID. Manual mode accepts comma-separated IDs or workflow URLs. Current workflow requires the workflow to be saved.
  • Workflow Name or ID / Workflow Names or IDs / Workflow URL or IDs (required) — The workflow(s) to shut down, shown according to the selection mode. At least one workflow must resolve, or the node errors.
  • Force Stop Active Executions — Default false. When true, stops running and waiting executions after deactivation. It only takes effect when Drop Events Received While Inactive is off.
  • Drop Events Received While Inactive — Default true. Saves a pause timestamp in workflow static data, deactivates the workflow, then purges its executions: running ones are stopped, and new and waiting ones are deleted. The timestamp can be used with the Workflow > Message Freshness Guard operation.

Output shape

One item per input item, with json.results as an array with one entry per workflow. Each entry has workflowId, deactivated, forceStop, dropMissedEvents, pausedAt, dropBefore, purgedExecutions, stoppedRunning and stoppedWaiting.

pausedAt and dropBefore are set only when Drop Events is on. purgedExecutions lists per-execution outcomes (action stop or delete, success, error). Deleting executions may fail on n8n API versions that don't support it, and that is reported per execution rather than thrown. stoppedRunning and stoppedWaiting are filled only when Drop is off and Force Stop is on. Executions are listed up to 10 pages per status. Workflows are processed sequentially. A failed deactivation throws, and that stops the whole operation unless Continue On Fail is enabled. Requires the n8nApi credential.

Examples

Example 1: Pause a production workflow for maintenance and discard anything queued while it is off

Workflow Selection: From Searchable List; pick the workflow; Drop Events Received While Inactive: true; Force Stop: false

Example 2: Shut down several workflows and stop their in-flight runs without purging

Workflow Selection: Multiple From List; Drop Events Received While Inactive: false; Force Stop Active Executions: true
