Summary

Updates an existing Animation Card activity in a conversation.

Inputs

• Authentication Kind (required) — Choose Classic Bot (Azure Bot Service) or Agent 365 (Entra Agent Identity).
• Conversation Source (required) — Whether to take the conversation reference from the incoming item (From Envelope) or to fill it in manually.
• Service URL (required) — Bot Connector service URL for the target channel (only when Conversation Source is Manual).
• Conversation ID (required) — The conversation ID (only when Conversation Source is Manual).
• Channel ID (required) — Azure Bot Service channel the conversation belongs to (only when Conversation Source is Manual).
• Activity ID — ID of the specific activity to update (leave empty for proactive sends).
• Title (required) — Title shown on the animation card.
• Subtitle — Subtitle shown beneath the title.
• Text — Description text for the animation card.
• Poster Image URL — URL of a poster / preview image shown before playback.
• Poster Image Alt Text — Alternative text for the poster image.
• Media URLs — List of media items to play; each item requires a URL and optionally a profile hint.
• Buttons — Actions shown on the card; each button needs a type, title, and value, with optional channel‑specific data, display text, image, etc.
• Options — Additional card settings such as aspect ratio, autoloop, autostart, duration (ISO‑8601), fallback text, shareable flag, raw activity override (JSON string), and an opaque value object.
• Identity Mode — For Agent 365 authentication: Autonomous (agent acts as its Blueprint app) or Agent User Account (agent acts as a specific M365 user).
• User Selector Mode — When Identity Mode is Agent User Account, choose to identify the user by UPN or Object ID.
• Agent Username — UPN of the agentic user (used when User Selector Mode is By UPN).
• Agent User ID — Object ID of the agentic user (used when User Selector Mode is By Object ID).

Output shape

The node returns the updated activity (or a success indicator) as part of the workflow item data, matching the structure used by other M365 Agent card operations.

If the update succeeds, the item is passed downstream unchanged; errors are thrown and can be caught by an n8n error workflow.

Examples

Example 1: Update an animation card posted earlier in a Teams thread.

Set Authentication Kind to Classic Bot, Conversation Source to From Envelope, provide Title (required), optionally Subtitle, Text, Poster Image URL, Media URLs, Buttons, and leave Activity ID blank if the incoming item already contains the activity to update.
