Summary

Send a file as a message to a specific conversation within a selected account and inbox in Chatwoot.

Inputs

• Account (required) — Select the account that owns the target conversation.
• Inbox (required) — Select the inbox associated with the conversation.
• Conversation (required) — Select the conversation to which the file will be sent.
• Input Data Field Name (required) — Specify the name of the binary property that contains the file data to upload.
• Is Recorded Audio (PTT) — Indicate if the file is a recorded audio message (Push-To-Talk). Changes the typing indicator to a recording indicator.
• Caption — Add a caption to the file message; ignored if the file is audio.
• Options — Additional options including marking the message as a private note, showing typing/recording indicator while waiting, delay before sending, custom wait time in seconds, and attaching custom JSON metadata to the file.

Output shape

a single message object representing the sent file message.

Waiting indicators (typing/recording) can be shown before sending based on options; delays can be configured. Private notes are messages not visible to the customer. Custom metadata can be attached as JSON to the file message.

Examples

Example 1: Send a PDF file to a conversation with a caption and no delay.

Specify Account, Inbox, and Conversation; set binary property name to the file data field; provide a caption; options default.

Example 2: Send a recorded audio file with a recording indicator and wait before sending.

Set 'Is Recorded Audio' to true; enable 'Show Status While Waiting'; configure 'Wait Before Sending' and 'Wait Time (Seconds)'.
