Summary

Send a message to an Upwork message room using a GraphQL mutation. Choose OAuth2 or API Token authentication, provide the room ID or URL and message text, then optionally override the mutation, add variables, or set the result item path.

Inputs

  • Authentication — Select OAuth2 (default) or API Token; provide the matching Upwork credentials.
  • Room (required) — The message room’s ID or URL. The node passes this value as the mutation’s roomId.
  • Message — Text to send to the room. Passed as the mutation’s text; the UI does not mark this field required.
  • Advanced: GraphQL Query Override — Replace the built-in send-message mutation. If blank, the built-in mutation is used.
  • Advanced: Variables — JSON object merged into the generated GraphQL variables; provided keys can override generated roomId or text values.
  • Advanced: Item Path — Dot path used to locate result items in the response. Defaults to sendMessage.message; connection results with nodes or edges are unwrapped automatically.

Output shape

One n8n item per extracted result item, normally a single message record.

Each item’s JSON contains id, resource, operation, data, and _meta fields. The default mutation selects the sent message’s id, text, and createdAt. If the configured item path resolves to an object, it becomes one item; an array becomes multiple items. API or validation errors fail the operation unless Continue On Fail is enabled.
