Summary

Updates a user in the selected tenant through CIPP. Supply the user’s UPN or object ID, then add only the profile, password, group, license, alias, manager, or sponsor fields you want to change.

Inputs

• Tenant (required) — Select a tenant from the list or enter its default domain.
• User ID (required) — The user’s UPN or object ID.
• Update Fields — Optional fields to update. These include profile and contact details; password and password-change settings; group additions or removals (JSON arrays of group IDs); license assignment (a JSON array of SKU IDs) or removal of all licenses; aliases and alternate emails; copying group memberships and licenses from another user; changing the domain; and assigning a manager or sponsor with a JSON LabelValue object.

Output shape

A single CIPP API response record or response payload.

The operation sends the selected tenant and user ID with the supplied update fields. Exact response fields depend on the CIPP API response.

Examples

Example 1: Update a user’s title and add them to a group

Set Tenant and User ID, then add Job Title and Add to Groups in Update Fields; Add to Groups expects a JSON array of group IDs.
