Summary

Create a new thread in Zoho Cliq linked to a specific parent message within a selected channel or chat.

Inputs

• Target (required) — Specify where to create the thread: a channel by ID or unique name, a chat by chat ID, or let the AI agent choose the target.
• Agent Selected Target (required) — When using Agent's Choice, select which target family (channel ID, channel unique name, or chat ID) to use.
• Channel ID — Provide the exact channel ID if Target is Channel or Agent Selected Target is Channel (By ID).
• Channel Unique Name — Provide the exact channel unique name if Target is Channel (By Unique Name) or Agent Selected Target is Channel (By Unique Name).
• Chat ID — Provide the exact chat ID if Target or Agent Selected Target is Chat.
• Thread Message ID (required) — Specify the ID of the parent message from which the thread will be created.
• Message Type (required) — Choose the type of the outgoing thread message: Text (Cliq Markdown), Rich/Card, or Advanced JSON.
• Post as Bot — Optionally post the message as a bot, requiring the Bot Unique Name.
• Bot Unique Name — Provide the exact unique name of the bot to post as when Post as Bot is enabled.
• Text — Message text content if Message Type is Text, supporting Zoho Cliq Markdown up to 5000 characters.
• Add a Mention — Enable adding mentions in the text message.
• Mentions — Configure specific mention tokens including participants, users, teams, channels, or silent users.
• Rich/Card Payload — For Rich/Card message type, provide either structured fields to define the card payload or raw JSON with text and card details.
• JSON Body — For Advanced (JSON) Message Type, provide the full JSON message object including mandatory non-empty top-level text string.
• Additional Fields — Optional settings including thread title, posting message in parent conversation, and requesting synchronous API response.
• Enable AI Error Mode — Configure error handling to return errors as output items instead of throwing errors, useful for AI tool recovery.

Output shape

a single record containing the details of the created thread message returned by Zoho Cliq API

Includes created thread message metadata such as message_id. Supports optional synchronous response behavior when requested via settings.

Examples

Example 1: Creating a text thread in a channel

Set Target to Channel, select or provide the Channel ID, specify the Thread Message ID to create a thread from, choose Text as Message Type, provide the text content, optionally add mentions, and execute.

Example 2: Creating a JSON formatted thread in a chat

Set Target to Chat, provide the Chat ID, specify the Thread Message ID, set Message Type to Advanced (JSON), and provide raw JSON payload with mandatory text field.
