Configuration → Create
AI-generatedSummary
Creates a new configuration (device/asset record) in IT Glue via a JSON:API POST, optionally scoped to a specific organization, and returns the created record.
Inputs
- name (required) — Configuration name.
- organizationId — Organization to create the configuration under (dropdown loaded from IT Glue, or an expression). If set, the request goes to organizations/{id}/relationships/configurations; if empty, it posts to the top-level configurations endpoint, which IT Glue may reject without an organization.
- configurationTypeId — Configuration type, chosen from a list loaded from IT Glue.
- configurationStatusId — Configuration status, chosen from a list loaded from IT Glue.
- serialNumber — Serial number.
- assetTag — Asset tag.
- primaryIp — Primary IP address.
- macAddress — MAC address.
- hostname — Hostname.
- notes — Free-text notes.
- archived — Whether the configuration is created as archived (default false).
Output shape
A single item containing the created configuration, flattened: attributes converted from kebab-case to camelCase (e.g. serialNumber, primaryIp), plus id, type, and relationships if returned by IT Glue.
Empty optional strings are omitted from the request. The boolean Archived is always sent, so false is included. Throws an error if IT Glue returns no data. 429 rate-limit responses are retried up to 3 times. With Continue On Fail enabled, errors come back as an item with an error message.
Examples
Example 1: Register a new laptop under a specific client organization
Organization = client org, Name = 'LAPTOP-042', Configuration Type = Laptop, Status = Active, Serial Number, Hostname and Primary IP mapped from earlier node data.
Example 2: Create a configuration with minimal data
Name = 'Core Switch', Organization selected, other fields left blank.
