Password → Get
AI-generatedSummary
Retrieves a single IT Glue password record by ID via GET passwords/{id}. Secret fields are redacted unless the workflow author explicitly enables Reveal Plaintext outside an AI-tool context.
Inputs
- Password ID (required) — ID of the password to fetch. The operation throws an error if it is empty.
- Reveal Plaintext — Boolean, default false. When true, sends show_password=true so IT Glue returns the real password value. It is hidden from AI tools, and the source forces it off whenever the node runs as an AI/agent tool or the execution context can't be confirmed as non-tool.
- Include — Multi-select of related resources to embed in the response: Attachments, Recent Versions, Related Items. Sent as a comma-joined include query parameter.
Output shape
One item with the flattened password record. Attribute names are converted from kebab-case to camelCase, and id, type and relationships (if present) are added. Any embedded includes appear through relationships.
Without reveal, any key matching password, passphrase, otpSecret or onetimepassword is replaced with REDACTED. Non-secret metadata such as passwordCategoryId and otpEnabled is kept. The item also gets _passwordRedactedReason, which is 'reveal not enabled' or 'blocked in AI/tool context'. With reveal, the data is returned as-is plus _passwordRevealed: true. The call throws if IT Glue returns no data. 429 responses are retried up to 3 times, and other API errors are surfaced as node errors.
Examples
Example 1: Look up a password's metadata (name, username, URL) without exposing the secret
Resource: Password, Operation: Get, Password ID: 12345, Reveal Plaintext off. The password field comes back as REDACTED.
Example 2: Fetch the actual password in a trusted manual or webhook workflow to pass to another system
Password ID from an expression, Reveal Plaintext on. The output includes the plaintext and _passwordRevealed: true.
Example 3: Get a password with its attachments and version history
Password ID: 12345, Include: Attachments and Recent Versions.
