Password → Get Version
AI-generatedSummary
Retrieves a single historical version of an IT Glue password by version ID. Secret fields are redacted by default, and plaintext is returned only if the author enables Reveal Plaintext outside an AI/tool context.
Inputs
- Version ID (required) — ID of the password version to fetch (versionId). The node throws an error if it is empty.
- Reveal Plaintext — Boolean, default false. Author-only: when true, sends show_password=true to IT Glue and returns the real password values. This option is hidden from AI tools. It is also ignored, so values stay redacted, whenever the node runs as an AI/agent tool or the execution context can't be confirmed as non-tool.
Output shape
A single item with the flattened password version. Attributes are converted to camelCase, and id, type and any relationships are included. One of two extra marker fields is added.
Without reveal, any key containing password, passphrase or OTP secret is replaced with REDACTED. Keys named value, content, secret, credential and secretKey are also redacted. The item then carries _passwordRedactedReason, which reads 'blocked in AI/tool context' or 'reveal not enabled'. With reveal, the item carries _passwordRevealed: true and the data is unredacted. The node throws an error if IT Glue returns no data. API errors, including 401, 403 and 429, are raised as node errors. 429 responses are retried up to 3 times. With Continue On Fail enabled, the output is an item containing the error message.
Examples
Example 1: Audit when a password changed without exposing its value
Resource: Password, Operation: Get Version, Version ID: from a previous Get Versions step. Reveal Plaintext off. Returns version metadata with secrets redacted.
Example 2: Recover an older password value in a manually run workflow
Version ID set to the target version, Reveal Plaintext on. Run manually or from a trigger, not as an AI tool, to get the plaintext.
